The brief
A top-floor apartment with a spectacular window and a tired kitchen that turned its back on it. The owners cook together most evenings and wanted the room to feel light, simple and open.
The design
We moved the sink under the window and ran a long wall of slim, handleless cabinets beneath Carrara marble. A single oak shelf on copper brackets keeps everyday glasses close, and a marble-topped oak table stands in for an island, so the room still works as a dining space.
The build
The oak shelf and the table frame were made from the same batch of timber so the grain and tone match. Installation took two weeks, including new plumbing for the relocated sink.
